Care

We want you to love your purchases so we've put together some helpful tips to get the most from your wax melts and candles.

How to Use

CANDLES

To ensure an even burn for the life of your candle, the first burn is important. Wax has a 'memory' and if you don't allow it to melt to the edges of the jar, it will tunnel and you will lose not only fragrance but burn time and nobody wants that.

Ideally you want to burn the first time for a minimum of 2hours but you're really looking for that melt pool to get as close to the edges as possible before extinguishing.

Speaking of - keeping the candle clean between burns will also help extend it's life, as well as keep it burning safely. Sometimes extinguishing the flame will knock some debris in to the wax. Best practice is to remove that before your next burn (tweezers or a clean paper towel should do it) as well as trimming your wick to around half a cm to keep the flame from becoming too large.

Trimming the wick isn't just a safety precaution, the flame determines the heat of the wax and that will affect the scent in the room.

If you notice an unusual texture after burning, this is likely due to the nature of the wax we use. Because we avoid paraffins and additives in our candles, it can be difficult to obtain a visually perfect product. Texture in the wax doesn't affect the performance but if you are concerned, get in touch and we will check it out for you.

WAX MELTS

Some of the above will, of course, apply to wax melts too but there are a couple of additional things to remember as well.

In our experience, spillages are much more prevelant with melts than candles and so remember not to overfill your warmer.

It's also important to make sure you're using a warmer that's approved for melting wax rather than just oil. As with candles, temperature is key and using a device that isn't intended for this purpose could lead to an unpleasant waxy scent rather than releasing the fragrance.

You can remelt the same wax until the fragrance has evaporated but clean out your warmer when there's less than 50% left in the dish.

To change your wax melt without mess, take a cotton ball or two and let them absorb the melted wax before cleaning any residue with a paper towel.
